Spirit of Big Bang Essential

The fifth chapter of a series that has quietly become a collector favorite. Hublot continues to expand its Essential universe with the launch of the new Spirit of Big Bang Essential Taupe, a release that confirms how this collection has evolved from a one-off concept into one of the brand’s most anticipated annual drops.

The idea behind Essential remains remarkably simple: one color, one design, once a year, available exclusively online. Since 2022, Hublot has built this narrative with impressive consistency, beginning with the Big Bang Unico Essential Grey, followed by the Spirit of Big Bang Essential Grey and later the Classic Fusion Essential Grey. Then came taupe, first introduced through the Classic Fusion Essential Taupe in 2025. Now, in 2026, that tone arrives within the Spirit of Big Bang collection for the fifth chapter of the series.

That warm taupe shade fits naturally within the monochromatic aesthetic Hublot has been refining through the Essential line. It’s a more restrained and minimal approach, focused on textures, materials, and subtle finishing contrasts rather than bold colors or excessive visual complexity.

The collection is presented in two different executions, both limited to 200 pieces. The 42 mm version is crafted in satin-finished and polished titanium and features a new carbon-stamped dial where polished and satin-brushed finishes create a checkerboard-style 3D effect across the surface. Inside sits the HUB4700 self-winding skeleton chronograph movement with a 50-hour power reserve.

The 32 mm version may be the most interesting part of the release. For the first time, Hublot introduces a diamond-free execution within the 32 mm Spirit of Big Bang collection. Removing any decorative excess gives the watch a noticeably cleaner and more understated personality, pushing the Essential concept even further. The satin-finished and polished stainless steel case is paired with a sunray taupe dial that carries the same monochromatic spirit as the larger model. It’s powered by the HUB1120 self-winding movement with up to 40 hours of power reserve.

Both watches include two interchangeable straps — one in rubber and another in Velcro or technical fabric depending on the version — designed to switch styles instantly through Hublot’s One Click system. Like every Essential release, the Spirit of Big Bang Essential Taupe comes with a detail that has become part of the identity of the collection itself: this exact configuration will only exist once.
