Rolex Daytona Four Seasons Reach £37.3 Million at Charity Auction

The four unique Rolex Cosmograph Daytona watches created specifically for the Four Seasons charity initiative achieved a combined £37.3 million at the Phillips auction held in London on September 28. According to the auction house, the result marks the largest total ever achieved by a single consignment at a charity auction.

The concept behind the collection is built around the four seasons of the year, with each one-of-a-kind Daytona representing Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. Rolex gave each watch its own identity through a distinctive combination of precious metals, natural stone dials, colored gemstones and diamonds. All four feature a 40 mm Oyster case and are powered by the automatic calibre 4131, offering approximately 72 hours of power reserve.

Summer achieved the highest individual result at £10.3 million. Crafted in 18 ct Everose gold, it features a turquoise dial with “heart of ruby” counters and a bezel set with pink sapphires. Autumn, in yellow gold with a mookaite dial and chrysoprase counters, sold for £10.2 million.

Winter reached £10 million. Its 950 platinum case is paired with a blue opal dial, lapis lazuli counters and a bezel set with sapphires graduating from blue to fuchsia. Spring completed the quartet at £6.8 million, combining white gold with chrysoprase, lepidolite and purple sapphires.

The auction formed part of Rolex’s Perpetual Planet Initiative. No buyer’s premium was applied, meaning the entire £37.3 million will benefit the Federer Foundation, founded by Roger Federer and focused on education and early learning for children in Southern Africa and Switzerland, and Re:wild, co-founded by Leonardo DiCaprio to protect and restore wild ecosystems.

The Four Seasons are not part of a regular collection. They are four unique Daytonas created by Rolex for an exceptional initiative combining watchmaking, gem-setting and a charitable purpose.
